2023년, 대한민국 정부의 뉴트리아 퇴치 목표 계획은 실패한다. 생태계 교란종 ‘뉴트리아’는 여전히 우리와 함께 살아가고 있다.
나는 <박멸의 공존1, 2021>의 뉴트리아와 인간은 공존이 불가능하다는 결론을 넘어, 아직 박멸되지 못한 뉴트리아에게 1인칭 시점(Bodycam)을 부여한다. 이를 통해 혐오적 대상과 끊어진 관계를 이어보며, 이미 정착 해버린 외래/교란종과 이 동물을 제거해야만 하는 우리의 관계에 대해 고찰하고자 한다.
In 2023, the Korean government’s plan to eradicate nutria failed. Nutria, the invasive species, remain in our habitat.
Through <The Coexistence of Eradication 1, 2021>, I go beyond the conclusion that nutria and humans cannot coexist and grant nutria the first-person point of view with a bodycam. This paves the way to mend the broken relationship with the despised species and contemplate our relationship where we must get rid of the species that have already made their settlements.
